Tala’s Story

Meet Tala

At three years old, Tala began experiencing severe back pain. Tests led to the diagnosis of a rare cancer and the discovery of a grapefruit-sized tumour pressing against her heart, lung, and stomach. After months of intense pain, she was admitted to CHEO, where she underwent chemotherapy and a surgery to remove the tumour along with five of her ribs. Despite many challenges, Tala’s recovery has been remarkable. She is now an active five-year-old living with mild scoliosis and continues to be monitored by CHEO’s orthopedic team. Tala’s journey, supported by her family and the dedication of her care team at CHEO, has been a miracle.
