Meet Elsa
Elsa is a smart, bubbly 17-year-old who loves her friends and spending time outdoors with her family. But it wasn’t always that way. She was in Grade 8 when her health took a dangerous turn. Elsa had developed an unhealthy relationship with food, becoming fixated on her weight and a negative perception of her body. She felt out of control and grew so frail she was physically unable to do the things that brought her joy. Elsa was referred to CHEO and diagnosed with an eating disorder. After lots of hard work including breakthroughs in therapy, Elsa and her team formulated a plan to help her take charge of her thinking and self-image. She is a graduate of CHEO’s Eating Disorders program and credits CHEO with saving her life. She hopes that sharing her story will inspire others to seek help when they need it.
